Wat Phnom
One of the most easily overlooked landmarks by tourists is Wat Phnom. Considered to be an iconic symbol of Phnom Penh, Wat Phnom monastery is famous behind the story of a rich elder woman who happened to stumble across a floating log where she found five Buddha statues inside. The Buddha statues were then placed for blessing in the man-made hill whose name was suggested after the elder woman “Wat Phnom Daun Penh” which means “Mountain Monastery by Grandma Penh”.
Later on, People only used the short name Wat Phnom. Wat Phnom is encompassed by trees and plants that are inviting for various species like monkeys, chipmunks, and bird species like toucans, etc. You can visit Wat Phnom 13 minutes by car from Noden Hotel & Apartment.
